ANDERS CLEMENS | Guitar course

Anders Clemens. He was born in Oslo, Norway in 1976, began playing guitar at the age of 12. He graduated from the Koninklijk Konservatorium in The Hague, Netherlands in 1999. In 2000, he was awarded a scholarship from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain and moved to Barcelona, where he completed his postgraduate studies at the Luthier School of Musical Arts under the tutelage of Alex Garrobe and Sadahiro Otani, receiving the qualification of Cum Laude.

Later, he expanded his training with master classes from internationally renowned guitarists such as David Russell, Marco Smaili, Marco Socias, Fernando Rodriguez, Manuel Barrueco, and John Williams, among others.

He has been awarded in several International guitar competitions such as La Infanta Cristina-J. Guerrero (Madrid), José Tomas (Petret-Alacant), Julian Arcas (Almeria), and L'Alhambra (Valencia). In 2003, the Andrés Segovia competition opened the door to an international career as a soloist. Since then, he has performed in countries such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Austria, Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Kazakhstan, South Korea, and Brazil. He has also been part of chamber ensembles and has performed with orchestras, including the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Juanjo Mena, performing the Concierto de Aranjuez.

He has been invited to the most important festivals in Norway (Bergen, Stavanger, Oslo, Raros, Gloger, Vestfold), the Jeju Music Isle festival in South Korea, the Guitar Vila de Grasse festival (France), the Tampere Guitar Festival (Finland), and the Guitar Week Vila de Petrer. At this festival, he also collaborated by teaching master classes and playing in chamber ensembles with soloists such as Mark Kaplan, Denise Djokic, Jean Ferrandis, Isa Gerricke, Stig Nilsson, Thomas Kjekstad, and Solve Sirgerland, among others.

As an artist on the Nordicsound label, he has recorded five CDs so far: Romanza 2003, Sonatas 2005, Memories of Tàrrega 2008, Sor Selected Works 2011, and Cavatina 2013.
