CARLOS MEGÍAS | Trumpet course

Carlos Megías. He began his musical studies at the age of seven at the "Jerónimo Meseguer" Professional Conservatory in Almansa. In 2006, he obtained the title of trumpet professor from the "Joaquín Rodrigo" Superior Conservatory in Valencia with D. José María Ortí. He later completed a Postgraduate degree with Luis González at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona. In 2007, he obtained the Certificate of Pedagogical Aptitude from the University of Barcelona, and in 2019, he completed the Master's Degree in Cultural Management at the Open University of Catalonia.

He has received advanced training from Antonio Àvila, Leopoldo Vidal, Juan Carlos Alandete, Martín Baeza, Mireia Farrés, Jean-Jaques Gaudon, Charles Schlueter, Guy Touvron, Bo Nilsson, and Maurice André, among others.

During his training period, he was a regular trumpet member of different youth orchestras such as the Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Valencia (OFUV), the Young National Orchestra of Catalonia (JONC), the Young National Orchestra of Spain (JONDE), and the Jeunesses Musicals World Orchestra (JMWO).

He has collaborated with the Municipal Band of Albacete, Municipal Band of Alicante, Philharmonia Orchestra of Spain, Orchestra of La Mancha, Camerata XXI Orchestra (highlighting a tour in Japan in 2013), and the National Orchestra of Andorra. He has regularly collaborated with other ensembles such as the Orchestra de Cadaqués (as a soloist), Symphony Orchestra of Barcelona and National of Catalonia (OBC), Gran Teatre del Liceu Orchestra, National Orchestra of Spain (ONE), and the BCN216 Instrumental Group specializing in contemporary music (highlighting a tour at the Colón Theatre in Buenos Aires).

In 2006, he obtained the position of solo trumpet in the Symphonic Orchestra of Vallés, a position he currently holds. From 2013 to 2022, he was part of the Board of Directors of the Symphonic Orchestra of Vallés. He has performed with artists and conductors such as Josep Carreras, Anna Nebrebko, Kiri Te Kanawa, Sting, Barba Hendricks, Ainhoa Arteta, Plácido Domingo, Juan Diego Flórez, Christian Lindberg, Stephan D’Or, Ruben Gimeno, Josep Pons, Yakov Kreizber, Lutz Köhler, Semyon Bychkov, Juanjo Mena, among others.

He combines his work as an orchestral soloist with teaching at the Vilanova i la Geltrú Conservatory and School of Music and the Liceu Superior Conservatory of Music. He was a founding professor of the OSVALLES Brass Academy in 2013. He has performed as a soloist at the Palau de la Música Catalana, interpreting Shostakovich's Concerto for trumpet, piano, and strings No. 1 with the Symphonic Orchestra of Vallés, and Frank Martin's Concerto for wind instruments with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Valencia on its 20th anniversary, at the Palau de la Música in Valencia.
