CHRISTIAN FARRONI | Flute course

Christian Farroni. He began his flute studies at the age of eight in Ravenna with professor Marco Paganelli. In 1977, he enrolled at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève in Maxence Larrieu's class, where he obtained the Premier Prix de Virtuosité, and later expanded his training at the CNSM de Paris with Pierre-Yves Artaud, Florencia Souchard, and Michel Morages (chamber music), also winning awards. He also studied at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe with Renate Greiss-Armin.

He has won various awards at the 6th Kobe International Competition (Japan), the A. Ponchielli International Competition in Cremona, Città di Stressa, the D. Cimarosa in Naples, the Maria Canals in Barcelona, the Biwako International Competition (Japan), the Prague Spring Festival, the F. Cilea in Palmi, and the Siringa in Rome, among others.

As an orchestral musician, he has been a member of the Camerata Strumentale Città di Prato, the Orquestra de Joves d’Itàlia, and has collaborated with the Orchestre Nationale de Paris, the Orquestra Nacional del País de la Loire, the Simfònica de Bilbao, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of, among others, P. Boulez, C. Eschenbach, E. Krivine, M. Perahia, or M. Rostropòvitx.

He has also been a soloist with the Deutsche Kammervirtuosen and the Philarmonia Mediterrània. Since 2002, he has been an assistant soloist in the Symphonic Orchestra of Barcelona and National of Catalonia, and in 2009 and 2010, he was a soloist of the Sinfónica de la Comunidad de Madrid.

His chamber music activity includes groups such as I Virtuosi del Baltico, the Kammart Ensemble, and the Krater Ensemble, among others, all performing in the cycles of Joventuts Musicals de Catalunya, Joventudes Musicales de España, the SGAE, the ACC, the Chamber Music cycle of the Auditori de Barcelona, the Mas i Mas Festival, and in Madrid, for the CDMC and the Fundació Canal. He has recorded wind trios by Catalan composers published by Columna Música. He is Head of the Wind and Percussion Department at the Centre Superior de Música Conservatori Liceu.
