DANIEL FUSTER | Oboe course

Born in 1976 in Valencia. Started musical studies at the age of 9 at the Paiporta School of Music and Performance, with oboe teacher Luis Grau. Later moved to the "Joaquín Rodrigo" Superior Conservatory of Music in Valencia, where he studied Elementary, Intermediate, and Superior Degrees with professors Jesús Fuster and Francisco Salanova, receiving Extraordinary Awards at the end of Elementary and Intermediate Degrees and the Honor Mention at the End of Career Award.

During the period 1999/2001 worked as a teacher at the Professional School of Music in Viana do Castelo (Portugal).

In 2002, he moved to Leipzig, where he studied until 2004 at the Musikhochschule für Musik und Theataer "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy", with oboe professor Christian Wetzel. Joined the Gewandhausorchester of Leipzig, playing under conductors such as Ricardo Chailly, Herbert Blomsted, Daniel Harding, or Charles Dutoit, and with soloists like Frank-Peter Zimmerman, Leonidas Kavakos, or Kim Kashkasian. He toured Japan and Korea with the Gewandhausorchester and recorded a disc for Deutsche Gramophon label. In Leipzig, he collaborated regularly with the Bach Collegium Musikum and the Felix Mendelssohn Kemmerorchester, as oboe soloist in both ensembles.

From 2004 to 2006, he lived in Salzburg, where he pursued a Magister-Studium at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with professor Stefan Schilli.

He has performed as a soloist in Spain, Portugal, Germany, and Austria. After winning the annual competition organized by the Mozarteum Salzburg, he performed Richard Strauss' Oboe Concerto with the Mozarteum orchestra, at the Grosse Saal in Salzburg, to great public and critical acclaim.

In the 2007/2008 season, he was part of the Symphonierorchester des Bayerischer Rundfunk in Munich as a solo oboist.

During the 2008/2009 season, he returned to the Gewandhausorchetser in Leipzig.

He has also performed as a solo oboist with orchestras such as HR Radio-Simfonie-Orchester Frankfurt, Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR, Symphonica Toscanini, Orquesta de Córdoba, Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, etc.

From 2009 to 2012, he was a member of the Orchestra of the Palau de Les Arts, conducted by Lorin Maazel and Zubin Mehta.

During the 2012-2013 season, he was the solo oboist of the Orchestra of the Teatro Regio de Turin (opera orchestra). From 2014 to 2017, he played as the solo oboist in the orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona opera).

He is currently a professor of oboe at the Superior Conservatory of the Liceu in Barcelona and at ESMAR (Higher School of High-Performance Music), in Valencia.
