Description
Jordi Castellà. He was born in Cervera, he began his musical training at the Conservatory of this same city, completing his advanced piano studies at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Barcelona under the tutelage of Jordi Vilaprinyó, obtaining the highest qualifications. He expanded his knowledge by studying postgraduate courses with the master Miquel Farré. In his training, we also find prestigious names such as Sofia Puche, Ramon Coll, Anna Barutti, Stanislav Pochekin, Manel Camp, Antoni Besses, and Ludovica Mosca, among others.
Jordi Castellà has performed as a soloist in iconic venues such as the Palau de la Música Catalana, L'Auditori de Barcelona, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Auditori Enric Granados in Lleida, or the Juan March Foundation in Madrid. Some of his performances have been recorded or broadcast live by important media such as Ràdio Nacional d'Espanya or Catalunya Música. Jordi Castellà is also the winner of the Joan Massià de Barcelona, Joves Intèrprets de Vilafranca del Penedès, J. S. Bach Interpretation Competition in Sant Cugat del Vallès, and Música Viva de Cervera competitions.
In the field of chamber music, his projects such as "Diabolus in Trio" or the contemporary music group "Tactum" stand out. As for the orchestra, he has collaborated with multiple formations such as the Barcelona Symphony and National Orchestra of Catalonia (OBC), Julià Carbonell Orchestra of the Lands of Lleida (OJC), National Orchestra of Lithuania, or the Young National Orchestra of Catalonia (JONC), under the direction of Carl Davis, Josep Pons, Ernest Martínez-Izquierdo, Alfonso Casado, Joan Albert Amargós, Salvador Brotons, Manel Valdivieso, or Alfons Reverté, among others.
As a composer, he has also obtained different prizes and recognitions, among which the first prize in the composition contests of Masquefa and Montgrins cobla music, Mollet del Vallès sardana composition, Catalonia trombone octet composition, and Catalonia choral composition awards. Some of his most successful works have been the cantatas "L'Espill Encantat" and "La Corona de Coloms" or the sardanas "Llavor" and "Tardoral".
Currently, he combines his concert activity with teaching at the Professional Conservatory of Music of Cervera. He is also the founder and conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of Inner Catalonia, and repertoire pianist for the Chamber Choir of the Enric Granados Auditorium in Lleida, directed by Xavier Puig, and the International Emili Pujol Chair in Cervera.
