IONUT PODGOREANU | Horn course

Ionut Podgoreanu. He began his horn studies at the age of eleven in Ploiesti with Professor Liviu Savuti. In 2002, he moved to study at the National University of Music in Bucharest under the guidance of Professor Lipoczi, and the following year he went to the Mozarteum University Salzburg to study with Professor Hansjörg Angerer. He completed his training at the Mozarteum University in 2011, obtaining a Master's degree in Interpretation.

In 2003, he joined the prestigious Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester as a solo horn, conducted by Pierre Boulez, Claudi Abbat, and Ivan Fischer, among others. He also participated in numerous masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Stefan Dohr, Radovan Vlatkovic, Radek Baborák, and Allesio Allegrini.

He has won international competitions such as Jeunesse Musicals de Romania in 1999, Yamaha in 2003, Telfs in Austria in 2004, Mozart in Italy in 2006, and D. Ceccarossi in Italy in 2007.

Throughout his career, he has served as principal horn in several orchestras, including the aforementioned Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, the Münchner Kammerorchester, and the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano. He has played under the direction of prominent conductors such as Claudi Abbat, Pierre Boulez, Franz Welser-Most, Ivan Fischer, Dennis Russell Davies, and Christoph Poppen, among many others. Since 2006, he has been the solo horn of the Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, a position he combines with his teaching duties at the Superior Center of Music Conservatory Liceu.
