JOSEP FUSTER | Clarinet course

Josep Fuster. He was born in Castelló de la Ribera (Valencia), studied at the Conservatoris Superiors in Valencia and Barcelona with professors V. Romero, J. Talens Sebastià, J. Panyella, and J. Tordera. He has been a clarinet and chamber music professor at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) since its creation and at the Barcelona and National Symphony Orchestra (OBC) since 1993.

He has been invited to perform with various symphony orchestras, including the Orquestra Nacional d'Espanya, New American Chamber Orchestra, Orquestra Simfònica del Gran Teatre del Liceu, Orquestra de Cambra del Teatre Lliure, Orquestra Camerata Mediterrània, Orquestra de Cadaqués, Orquestra Nacional de Cambra d'Andorra, and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra. He has participated in concert tours in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, the United States, and Japan.

In the field of chamber music, he is a co-founder of Harmonia Quintet de Vent, Barcelona 216, Diabolus in Musica, Trio Cervelló, Sahan Pillai, viola, Enrique Bagaria, piano, and Kammart ensemble. He has collaborated with numerous prestigious groups and performers such as Quartet Glinka, Quartet Quiroga, Orpheus Quartet, Solistes d'Ibercàmera, pianists Albert Atenelle, Eulàlia Solé, Xavier Dolç, Àngel Puig, Astrid Steinschaden, and Dolors Cano, among others. He has recorded several CDs, including "Música virtuosa per a clarinet i piano, vol. I, II, III i IV," the two Sonatas by Brahms, and "Homenatge a Weber i Rossini" with Isabel Hernández on piano.

He has also recorded the complete works for clarinet by composer Jesús Rodríguez Picó, premiered the "Quintet de la Sala de Llevant" for clarinet and string quartet by Xavier Benguerel, "Clarinet concertino" by Jordi Cervelló, "Concert per a clarinet 'Llums de l'Alba' Zulema de la Creu," and "Fantasia per a clarinet, cordes i petita percussió" by Juan Medina, all of which were dedicated to him.

He has made recordings for Catalunya Música, RNE, Radio France, and Dutch Radio, as well as for record labels such as Hyades Arts, Stradivarius, Edicions Moraleda, Anacrusi Contemporània, Columna Música, and Ars Harmònica. His two recordings of the quintets for clarinet and string quartet by Mozart, Weber, Krommer, Bärmann, Spohr, and Reicha with the Quartet Glinka have received high critical acclaim.
