Description

Laia Magrí. Born in Lleida in 1984, she began her piano studies at the age of six and bassoon studies at fourteen at the conservatory in the same city.

She graduated from the Superior School of Music of Catalonia (Esmuc) under the guidance of David Tomàs and Giorgio Mandolesi, and from the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin with Volker Tessmann. In parallel with her higher education, she completed a Praktikum from 2010 to 2013 with the Staatsorchester Braunschweig, and in 2013 she joined the Bremer Philharmoniker as second bassoon and contrabassoon until 2016, when she began a master's degree in orchestral performance at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar with Frank Forst, Selim Aykal, and Thomas Kollikowski.

Expanding her orchestral experience, she has played in world-renowned orchestras such as the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Radio Orchestra of Hannover (NDR Radiophilharmonie), and the Orchestre de Paris, among others, working under the baton of Pavo Järvi, Herbert Blomstedt, Michael Sanderling, and Zubin Mehta. She also collaborates with orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Orchestra of the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia, the Cadaqués Orchestra, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra (OBC), the Basque National Orchestra, and the Spanish Radio and Television Orchestra (RTVE), among others.

Currently, she is a professor of contrabassoon, specific instrumental repertoire, and secondary bassoon at Esmuc, an activity she combines with her recent incorporation into the Lleida Conservatory of Music.
