LAIA MAGRÍ | Bassoon course

Born in Lleida, she began her musical studies in piano at the age of six and fagot at fourteen at the conservatory of the same city. She graduated from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya under the guidance of David Tomàs and Giorgio Mandolesi and later at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin with Volker Tessmann.

Parallel to her higher studies, she completed a Praktikum from 2010 to 2013 at the Staatsorchester Braunschweig and in 2013 she joined the Bremer Philharmoniker as second fagot and contrabassoonist until 2016; when she began a master's degree in orchestral perfection at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar with Frank Forst and Selim Aykal.

She expanded her orchestral experience playing in world-renowned orchestras such as die deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Hannover Radio Orchestra (NDR Radiophilharmonie), and the Orchestre de Paris, working under the baton of Pavo Järvi, Herbert Blomstedt, Michael Sanderling, and Zubin Mehta. In Spain, she collaborates with orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Orchestra of the Valencia Community, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the Basque National Orchestra, the Spanish Radio Television Orchestra, and the Galicia Symphony Orchestra, among others.

Since 2016, she has been a professor of contrabassoon, specific instrumental repertoire, and secondary fagot at the Esmuc, an activity she combines with teaching at the Lleida Conservatory of Music.
